Overview
A major manufacturer and supplier of electrical supplies to the building industry. Working with customers in the construction industry through their distributors, the company provide quotes for the supplies and manage the relationships with the customer. The Quote Management System (QMS) tools function is to manage and track the process of bids or quotes being given and to help manage the relationship with the customers.
Solution
QMS (Quote Management System) is a business application used by a leading equipment manufacturing company's Pre-Sales team. Its primary purpose is to provide a means of logging and managing sales opportunities, quotes, and sales follow-up tasks for those quotes.
The sales personal are geographically distributed across the United States in many field sales offices. Sales people are assigned to sales territories and sales territories are grouped into sales areas.
The sales personal become aware of sales opportunities in many ways: through conversations with their customers, through interactions with distributors, through their existing sales service, which provides a list of planned government construction projects.
A sales opportunity is nothing more than a possible opportunity to provide a quote for their products. For example, it may be a city is considering building a new school, or a company is constructing a new building, or a business is planning to upgrade their electrical products in an old office.
