The wait is soon going to be over! The frantic searching of wallets for cards swiping and signing disappears with a simple touch of only a finger! Apple Pay soon coming to us this month will allow us to pay through our iPhones. The all new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus gives us the safety and security of making payments with ease.
Simple and Convenient. Payments with a Single Touch
The setup itself promises ease and simplicity. Use the iSight camera to record the card information on the iPhone or enter the card details. The default card can be added and a choice of card to pay with is always available to make from the already existing list. All this would be stored in the already present Passbook. Payment at stores is even easier without the hassle of tapping innumerable times to activate apps or keying in information. A contactless reader senses the iPhone and the key to start this transaction is your finger by validating the identity through the Touch ID feature. The transaction is confirmed with a light vibration in the phone itself!
Safety
Glances from snooping bystanders are avoided every time the card passes hands. The card number and the identity are never visible to anyone when using Apple Pay. Payments are now associated with a Device Account Number rather than various credit card or debit card numbers. The Device Account Number on the other hand is stored in a dedicated chip in the iPhone called the Secure Element. The level of encryption and security is fool proof. During transactions, Apple does not share card details during transmission. The Device Account Number is used along with a transaction specific security code while processing.
Lost Phones
When a phone is lost, Find My iPhone can be activated to register the device as being in the Lost Mode. No details from the passbook will then be available and the Device Account Number itself would cease to exist and invalidate if any attempts to use it are made.
Private Purchases
The transactions through Apple Pay are always private. The details of the transactions are never stored to correlate to any device id. The history is maintained in the device Passbook itself and is hence quite private. During any human intervention the details like name of the customer, card number, expiry dates and the pin no are discrete.
The Big Names
At the moment Apple Pay is available only in the USA. But not for long. With the big names like Visa, MasterCard, American Express associating with Apple Pay along with leading banks of the US; the world is waiting for this facility to arrive at all doorsteps. Apple Pay is already accepted at more than 220,000 stores in the US.
