Business Challenges
Hotel data files were received from multiple sources via email, requiring significant manual effort to download, organize, and store files.
Several hotels submitted reports in older Excel formats that could not be directly consumed by the reporting system, creating additional preprocessing work.
The manual handling of files delayed report preparation and reduced the availability of near real-time business insights.
The client primarily maintained daily files and lacked an efficient mechanism to access historical performance data when required.
Analytical reports had to be manually generated and shared with end customers, increasing operational overhead and the risk of delays.
Technical Solutions
We designed and implemented an end-to-end automated reporting ecosystem leveraging Microsoft's Power Platform.

Automated File Processing
We implemented Power Automate workflows to monitor incoming emails from approved hotel partners, automatically download and validate attachments, and convert legacy Excel files into standardized formats. Processed files were then organized and stored in OneDrive using a predefined folder structure, eliminating manual data handling.

Centralized Data Repository
A centralized OneDrive repository was established to store and organize both daily and historical hotel data. This ensured standardized data management, improved accessibility, and simplified governance across reporting workflows.

Intelligent Data Transformation
Power BI was connected directly to the centralized repository, with Power Query workflows used to cleanse, transform, and standardize incoming data. Reusable transformation logic ensured reporting consistency while reducing ongoing maintenance efforts.

Advanced Analytics & KPI Development
Interactive Power BI dashboards were developed to provide visibility into operational and revenue performance across multiple hotel businesses. Users could analyze historical and current-day data through a single interface while tracking key metrics such as restaurant, banquet, spa & wellness, parking, bar, and retail sales performance.

Reports were published to Power BI Service with scheduled data refreshes configured based on business requirements. Power Automate was used to automate PDF generation and report distribution, ensuring timely delivery to stakeholders without manual intervention.
